CHAMBER MUSIC

Duo Musagete

Since 2007, Duo Musagete has been thrilling audiences around the United States with their innovative programming and novel approach to the concert experience. Guitarist Jerome Mouffe and flutist Benjamin Smolen, themselves established soloists, founded Duo Musagete while studying with Eliot Fisk and Paula Robison at the New England Conservatory.

Duo Musagete’s recent performances include concerts at the Musée des Instruments de Musique in Brussels, Jordan Hall in Boston, the Gore Place Governor’s Mansion, and the Old South Meeting House. They have also been the featured ensemble on the LiveARTS chamber music series, the Boston Public Library’s Concerts in the Courtyard series, and Boston GuitarFest. In 2008, Duo Musagete became the New England Conservatory’s headlining Honors Chamber Ensemble, and in 2009 they were chosen to perform in the final rounds of the Concert Artist Guild International Competition.

Duo Musagete continues to expand the boundaries of the flute and guitar repertoire through their work with esteemed composers such as Robert Beaser, Randall Despommier, and Andreia Pinto-Correia. Their debut album, Bach to Beaser, was released in April 2015 and features the works of Bach, Haydn, Shostakovich, and Beaser.

The Tamino Duo

Benjamin Smolen and Seth Allyn Morris formed the Tamino Duo in 2008 while both studying with Paula Robison at the New England Conservatory. Since then, they have performed in venues throughout Boston, from Jordan Hall to the Boston Public Gardens. They have been featured in the Boston Globe and Cambridge Community Television and continue to search for fun and innovative ways to bring their music to the greater public. In the summer of 2009, they had the opportunity to travel to Graz, Austria to perform and tour as part of the American Institute of Musical Studies. Although they now live on different coasts, they continue to concertize across the country.
