Weinberg: Flute works

Salastina and Benjamin Smolen present “Mieczyslaw Weinberg: Flute Works,” featuring Weinberg’s Flute Concerto No. 1 and Miniatures in new orchestrations for flute and string quintet. Weinberg’s career spanned the mid-late 20th century. Although he was feted among the musical elite of the Soviet Union, the government prevented him from gaining widespread fame internationally due to his Polish Jewish background. He has gained huge prominence in the last several years, and his vast catalogue of works provides major additions to the repertoire of nearly every instrument, including flute. We hope you enjoy these stellar compositions as much as we enjoyed bringing them to life. To read more about the album, please click here.
